Retail Storefront Supplies & Skilled Construction Workers
We need a check-out counter, shelving and displays for apparel, furniture, lighting, curtains, paint and other supplies to professionalize our storefront presence at 2654 Gravois Ave in St. Louis, MO. We are also recruiting skilled workers who can help build and install these items.
Inventory Shelving & Specialist
We need shelving to hold our inventory of hundreds of shirts, and a volunteer to help keep our many items organized and counted.
Fashion Truck/Van
Picture a food truck, but instead of food, it’s clothes! Have you ever seen one of these “apparel trucks” before? Creative business owners are hitting the road to transform old trucks or vans into complete walk-in retail shops, perfect for pulling up at large outdoor markets for a truly unique customer experience. We have so many ideas for how this could look and the types of tours we could go on if we had access to our own truck/ van.
If you have something that might fit this need and you’re looking to donate to a good cause, please get in touch. We are also seeking resources to help commission a local artist/welder from our community in the Artisan’s Asylum to help with the engineering and construction of such a unique automotive project.
UniNet IColor 560 White Toner Printer
This is like a regular CMYK color laser printer except it includes a very special component: the ability to print the color white. This feature is a true revolutionary breakthrough in the decades-long history of digital CMYK printing. A white toner printer would allow us to print our own custom heat-transfer designs in-house, instead of sending the order out for another brand to make for us.
Printing your own heat transfers on this machine requires specialty paper which is also very expensive. We feel that access to this special printer would enhance both our design ability and production. It also functions as a regular office printer, which we do need on a basic level to print customer invoices and day-to-day office needs. The UniNet IColor 560 White Toner Printer is our dream printer.
HPN Black Series 8-in-1 15" x 15" Multifunction Heat Press Transfer Machine
A heat press machine is like a giant iron that uses pressure and heat to transfer an image onto a piece of clothing. Our current heat press is a donation we received 4 years ago, which has seen better days after all the wear and tear we have put it through printing hundreds and hundreds of shirts on an already old machine. Our current one functions on a basic level, but does not give an accurate temperature reading and is very out of date compared to the new technology available for heat presses.
Our dream press is the Heat Press Nation HPN Black Series 8-in-1 15" x 15" Multifunction Heat Press Transfer Machine. It includes a swing away handle for safer work conditions and easier access to the platen. This model also comes as an 8-in-1 machine with ability to print not only shirts, but hats, mugs and plates! Having a second press would also benefit our volunteer days where we could have more than one person operating a press.
We really appreciate Heat Press Nation for their dedication to information accessibility and all the awesome YouTube tutorial videos. We have learned a lot from them and would feel confident in using their products.
HPN Black Series 5" x 5" Label Press
This is a small heat press specifically for printing small designs such as the inside neck label branding on all of our apparel. Often the temperature needed for labels is a lower temperature than a main design, and and it can be time consuming if you only have one press to go back and forth between heat settings waiting for your machine to heat up or cool down (heat transfer chemistry a fascinating science to study) It is also very difficult to navigate a tiny label on our current big 15x15 clamshell platen that we have. Having a small press like the HPN Black Series 5" x 5" Label Press would make it a lot easier to do what we do.
Silhouette Cameo 4 Plus - 15" Cutter Plotter
A vinyl cutter works like an inkjet printer, but instead of using ink, there is a tiny blade that can create line drawings. This blade can cut into sheets of cardstock paper or vinyl, to make stickers, intricate paper cutouts, and heat transfer designs. We would use this to make custom designs to be printed onto shirts. The vinyl cutter we currently have access to only allows 8” width and is borrowed. We would like to acquire our own Silhouette Cameo 4 Plus - 15" Cutter Plotter machine that meets our higher demand for larger designs that can be printed faster.
Aluminium Screens for Screenprinting
We produce our shirts in a variety of ways, from screenprinting to heat transfer vinyl and direct to garment. We are seeking donations of clean aluminium screens for screenprinting, preferably the size 19x22” or other sizes and in a variety of mesh counts.
Bookmaking Supplies & Paper
We really appreciate Wendy Craig, member of the Uhuru Solidarity Movement based in San Diego who has donated over 50 of her beautiful handmade journals to the inventory of Uhuru Planet. She is a professional bookmaker, artist and even a Doctor. Wendy uses her skills as a white artist to raise reparations to African people and has regularly contributed her journals to us for years, and even made this cool video to show her making process.
We are seeking donations of book making materials such as unique papers, cover cardboard and various weight and color papers for the inside pages that could be incorporated to her journal designs.
Grant Writers/ Researchers
Do you want to help use your skills for reparations to the black community? We need you!
Our mission statement is “To forward the culture of white reparations to African people”. We are under the leadership of the African People’s Socialist Party which is fighting every day for power in the hands of African people worldwide to end the parasitic system of colonial capitalism and build a world where everyone is free and has their needs met, no one living at the expense of another.
Uhuru Planet raises resources needed for the African People’s Solidarity Committee to carry out its mission of raising white reparations to African people. One of our main objectives in 2021 is to provide a stipend for the Manager to be able to work full time navigating all the operations of the business, to truly grow it on an exponential scale. That need on top of all the expensive equipment you can see listed on this page, it’s clear that we need a lot of resources.
If you are a grant writer/ researcher or would like to volunteer your time to help us acquire resources, please be in touch. We look forward to meeting you.
