In the early 1980s he founded the Revolutionary Bolivarian Movement, and while in office he created instrumental programs and social reforms to build community access to food, healthcare, housing and education. In 1992 the United States attempted a coup to remove him from office, but the Venezuelan people fought back in a historic uprising documented in the film “The Revolution Will Not Be Televized”
