Brooklyn, NY 1982 Reparations Tribunal - Long-Sleeve Shirt
In Brooklyn, New York 1982 the African People’s Socialist Party hosted the world’s first ever International Tribunal on Reparations for African People to determine through a grand jury if reparations are owed to black/African people for the hundreds of years of genocide, violence and ongoing colonialism and gentrification. Testimony was given from scores of black and indigenous people from all walks of life— which was recorded and newly republished in 2023 as the groundbreaking book, The Verdict Is In: Reparations Now! by Burning Spear Media.
Wearing this design invites instant conversation on this profound historical moment and the impact it still holds over 40 years later in a society where the word “reparations” is more and more popular in mainstream political discussions. This must be credited to Chairman Omali Yeshitela of the APSP for his personal goal back in the 1980’s was “To make reparations a household word.”
